Overview of project
This project provides vertical gardens (distributed by women’s groups) to adjacent Kasigau communities as an alternative way of farming. This method grows more crops with less water and less space, increasing agricultural efficiency and reducing pressure on the use of the natural habitat.
- Project Description
Vertical garden agriculture in Kasigau Wildlife Corridor
The communities that call the Kasigau Wildlife Corridor home and live adjacent to this natural area and its wildlife have recognized the value of maintaining this rich habitat and minimizing their impact on it.
This project will provide vertical gardens to families in these communities as an alternative way of farming, allowing them to grow more crops with less water and less space. This will increase agricultural efficiency and reduce pressure on use of the natural habitat. The vertical gardens will be distributed by women's groups to their members.
You are supporting this project and the women groups and project lead George as they use the vertical gardens to plant kale, spinach, sukuma, amaranth, nightshade (popular for its leaves), and other greens.
