Rangers support & aerial surveillance in Kasigau Wildlife Corridor
The Kasigau Corridor Region has a rich habitat and amazing wildlife including more than 2,000 elephants. This gets the unwanted attention of poachers and charcoal producers.
The goal of this project is to support the rangers patrolling the area on land and through aerial surveillance with a gyrocopter to maintain security within the project area through daily patrols. This reduces poaching of elephants and other wildlife and prevents charcoal production. This approach has been highly effective reducing elephant deaths from 70 in 2014 to 10 in 2017.
With this project, you are supporting the work of the rangers on the ground and of the aerial surviellance pilots Keith Hellyer and Daniel Zuma, the first native Kenyan gyrocopter pilot, and their co-pilot Simon Kipsang."
